   You should first uninstall it. The time that it takes you to install the new one should not leave you open to any threats long enough to do any damage.

   Yes, but be sure to surf only to sites that you can trust. Don’t uninstall your antivirus before downloading another one. Download a new one first then uninstall the old one then install the new one. Antivirus programs cannot work with each other because it can cause problems.

   Nope just uninstall the old one first so they dont conflict with each other.

   Uninstall the older program as it might conflict with your new program. some of the other anti-V proggies detect the older ones as problems rather than knowing its just another anti-V proggie.

   So, yes……..rid your comp of the old one 1st.

   first uninstall the old antivirus software. then you can downlaod a new anti virus and use it

   first download the new anti virus
   install it
   if it installs and runs perfectly then remove your old one

   I would download NOD32 and save it. Do not open it yet. Scan it with McAfee to make sure it is clean. Uninstall McAfee. Run a registry cleaner to make sure nothing is left from McAfee. Then install NOD32.

   Yes, its certainly safe, but don’t be shocked if uninstalling your current anti-virus software isn’t as easy as using the add/remove programs option on your PC. Be prepared to possibly have to do some hunting down of processes running unbeknownst to you. For me, it proved very difficult to remove Norton Anti-Virus software from my computer because the add/remove program feature was stating that processes were still running and would not uninstall. However, after hunting down affiliated running processes in the task manager and isolating the source files themselves, I was finally able to completely unistall it.

   There shouldn’t be a problem to switch from McAfee to NOD32; however, be sure to completely removal McAfee prior to installing NOD32. If some McAfee files remain, it might interfere with NOD32. McAfee software is notorious for being hard to remove completely which is why they have developed their own tool to remove it. The tool removes ALL McAfee products. So, if you have any McAfee software other than the antivirus program, it will delete them as well. The removal is absolute free. Here is the link:

   Read the instructions carefully before doing anything. Create a system restore point. Afterwards, start the removal tool.

    download first
    then get off line and uninstall and install your new one

    don’t switch why are you going to switch from something thats good to something thats free. i had the same problem i had mcafee then switched to avg and i don’t recommend switching from something trusted from many user to some thing that isn’t better becauue if you check nod 32’s database its not bigger than mcafee so why switch to something that wont detect viruses as accuretely as mcafee

    What you should do is to download the antivirus to cd disk and then when not on the internet, remove the first one and then load the second one, and make sure you run it right away, just to make sure in the few minutes, that you did not have protection, no one sneeked into your computer and did something with out your knowledge.
